Write standing instructions

Standing instructions are rules for the agent, written in your own words. You write them once, and they apply in every folder on this machine.

Use them for preferences you would otherwise repeat in each conversation.

Write your rules

Open Settings → Instructions and write your rules as plain sentences.

For example:

prefer short, concrete steps over long explanations

Or:

always write dates as YYYY-MM-DD

Choose Save when you are done. The app saves the rules to a file and tells you where it put it. You can open that file from the same page.

Know what they affect

Standing instructions apply everywhere on your computer. They are not tied to one workspace.

If you want a rule that applies to one project only, put it in that project’s own instruction file instead of here.

Tip

Keep them short. A handful of clear rules works better than a long list, because every rule competes for the agent’s attention.
